Police arrest two men for possession of stolen property in Livingston Manor

On February 8, 2013, the New York State Police at Liberty arrested Travis Thomas, age 25, of Poughkeepsie, NY and Travis Morton, age 27, of Livingston Manor, NY for two felony counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor. Thomas was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree,a felony.

On February 8, 2013 at approximately 1:00 a.m., the State Police received a report of an altercation at a residence on Back Shandelee Rd in the Town of Rockland. The occupant of the residence reported that two males had left the scene in a pickup to Route 17 in Livingston Manor where both occupants fled on foot.

Thomas was located inside a diner and taken into custody. Morton was tracked to a nearby apartment complex by State Police K9 “Avery” and taken into custody. Further investigation revealed that the pickup truck used by the defendants contained proceeds from a burglary reported to State Police on February 6th. The proceeds included a rifle, two flatscreen televisions and assorted power tools.

Thomas and Morton were arraigned in the Town of Rockland Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail with no bail set for Thomas and $5,000 bail set for Morton.
