Four Liberty arrests

On Thursday October 11th 2012 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Frank Jaros, 50 of Ocala Florida after a vehicle stop on Main Street in the Village of Liberty. After stopping the vehicle driven by Jaros for a failing to yield a right of way, Jaros was found to have been operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. Additionally one of the passengers in the vehicle was a 6 year old juvenile.

Consequently Jaros was charged with felony DWAI-drugs and felony Aggravated DWI, commonly known as Leandra’s law, for having a passenger in the vehicle under the age of 16 while operating said vehicle while impaired by dugs. Jaros was also cited for several vehicle and traffic violations including, driver not wearing a seatbelt, back seat passenger between the age of 4-6 without appropriate child restraints, operating a motor vehicle without a proper insurance certificate, failing to yield the right of way while entering a roadway and failing to notify his change of address on his driver’s license. Jaros was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail.

On Thursday October 11th 2012 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Russell Jackson, 26 of Liberty after responding to a report of a burglary in progress at an apartment building on South Main Street. Police responded to the building and were given a description of an individual who had burglarized an apartment and left the scene. Within an hour Village of Liberty Police with the assistance of a New York State Police K-9 unit located Jackson and recovered stolen property in his possession. Jackson was charged with burglary in the 2nd degree and petit larceny. He was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail to return to court on the 16th day of October, 2012.

On Sunday October 14th, 2012 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Marvin Perry after an investigation into an incident that occurred at a motel in the Village of Liberty involving a female victim. Perry was charged with 2 counts of Rape in the 1st degree, felonies, two counts of assault in the 3rd degree, unlawful imprisonment in the 2nd degree and criminal mischief in the 4th degree, all misdemeanors. Perry was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.

On Tuesday October 9th, 2012 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested an 18 year old female after receiving a call from a pharmacy in the Village of Liberty for a fraudulent prescription. Liberty Police responded and arrested the 18 year old female who was attempting to pass the fraudulent prescription in an attempt to obtain narcotic pain medication. The female was charged with Forgery in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the 2nd degree, both felonies. She was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $1000.
