On Monday, August 20, 2012, the New York State Police arrested Robert A. Sammarco, age 49, of 56 Cottage Street, Middletown, New York, following a vehicle pursuit that began in the City of Middletown and ultimately ended on State Route 17 in the Town of Wallkill.

The vehicle pursuit began when the suspect refused to pull over after he was observed operating a stolen motor vehicle on Wickham Avenue by a member of the City of Middletown Police Department. After traveling through three townships and two counties, the vehicle pursuit reached a conclusion when a member of the New York State Police successfully deployed a tire deflation device on State Route 17 Eastbound in the Town of Wallkill.

Sammarco was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the first degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the third degree, Unlawful Fleeing A Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the third degree, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree, DWAI-Drugs and numerous Vehicle and Traffic violations. The suspect was arraigned in the Town of Wallkill Court and remanded to Orange County Jail on $50,000 cash bail/$100,000 bond.
