Liberty bar fight arrest

During the early morning hours of Saturday January 4th,2012, Village of Liberty Police were called to responded to McCabes Bar, located on South Main Street, for a report of a bar fight in progress. Village Police arrived on scene and stopped a black BMW appearing to be fleeing the scene.

The driver, later identified as 23 YOA Antonio Sanchez of the Bronx, was detained while police investigated. Once inside the establishment Police found a good amount of blood and the victim, a 32 YOA Liberty resident, who had been hit in the face with a pool stick causing injury to his face and eye.

Sanchez was identified as the assault suspect and was subsequently arrested for assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Sanchez was found to be intoxicated and to possess a suspended drivers license and was subsequently additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a class E felony, Driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, and excessive window tint, a traffic offense.

Sanchez was arraigned in Liberty Court and sent to Sullivan County Jail on 5,000 dollars cash bail or 10,000 bond.
