The New York State Police in Liberty announce the arrest on 10/09/11, of WILLIAM R. LEWIS, age 26 and KATHERINE E. YOUNG, age 31, both from Mongaup Valley, NY for the felony charge of Burglary in the 2nd degree and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, possession of burglar’s tools, petit larceny and criminal trespass 2nd degree.

This arrest came as a result of a caretaker at a Hassidic residential community located in Bethel, NY observing the suspects on the premises stealing copper. The vehicle and suspects fled the scene with the witness following in his vehicle and the State Police in Liberty were notified.

The vehicle and its occupants, LEWIS and YOUNG, were located in the City of Middletown, stopped and taken into custody by Troopers from the SP Wurtsboro barracks.

LEWIS and YOUNG were processed at the SP Liberty barracks. They were arraigned at the T/Bethel Justice Court by T/J Kevin Rhyne and committed to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $15,000.00 bail pending their next court appearance in Bethel Court.
