On September 27, 2011, at approximately 7:25pm, State Police at Middletown responded to a two car fatal accident on Greenville turnpike in the Town of Deerpark, Orange County, NY.

Initial investigation revealed that a 1990 Honda, NY registration FHD3673 being operated by Christian Thomas, age 16 of Westtown, NY was attempting to pass an uninvolved vehicle travelling westbound on Greenville Turnpike and struck a 2005 Chevy, NY registration PJW492 being operated by Joanne Daly, age 58, also of Westtown, NY head on.

Both Thomas and Daly were transported to Bon Secours where Daly was treated for her injuries and Thomas was then transferred to Westchester Medical Center for surgery.

Daniel Garcia, age 17 of the town of Deerpark, was the front seat passenger in the Honda and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and is reconstructing the accident. The investigation is continuing and State Police request anyone who may have seen the accident contact them at 845-344-5300.
