Bethel Woods Adds 5 More Wineries its Annual Wine Fest, Wine Festival Tickets On-sale Now

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts has added five more regional wineries to its already robust line-up. Brimstone Hill, Glenora Wine Cellars, Hudson-Chatham Winery, Inspire Moore, and Knapp Winery will join the other 20 regional wineries will gather once again at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts for the annual Wine Festival to be held in the Market Sheds on Sunday, August 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Wine Festival will feature wine tastings from wineries in the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes region from New York, all of which will be available for sale. Tickets for the festival are on sale now.

The tasting fee for the Wine Festival is $10, which includes a complimentary glass while supplies last. Tickets can be purchased at www.BethelWoodsCenter.org, the Bethel Woods Box Office, Ticketmaster, or by phone at 1.800.745.3000. General admission to the festival is $5. Designated drivers receive a discounted ticket price of $5.00. Parking for the Wine Festival is free and the event will take place rain or shine.

Attendees will enjoy a sampling of wine from the vine, as well as specialty foods, cheeses, and crafts. The afternoon will also feature short wine appreciations seminars to pique the interest of any wine connoisseur and curiosity seeker alike. Session I: Wine basics: Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay oh my! A red is not a red and a white is not a white: understanding the different varietals of wine. Session II: Wine Appreciation: color, nose, aroma, bouquet. How to taste and pair wine. Registration for these seminars is strongly recommended as space will be limited. The day will also feature live musical performances to entertain guests while they enjoy the festival set against the beautiful backdrop and scenery of Bethel Woods.

Adair Vineyards, New Paltz, New York - Wines made from estate and locally grown grapes and fruit.

Anthony Road Wine Company – The Anthony Road Wine Company is located 10 miles south of Geneva on the west side of Seneca Lake. The Martini Family started planting grapes in 1973 and sold the fruit to a large producer. In 1989 they began crushing grapes for their own winery which opened in 1990. Today they are celebrating 21 years of quality wine making from t heir vineyards as well as other local vineyards. Anthony Road’s philosophy continues to be to produce excellent wines for “Every day Celebration of Life.”

BashaKill Vineyards, Wurtsboro, New York - BashaKill Vineyards is Sullivan County’s first commercial vineyard. Set in a picturesque region of the Catskills, Bashakill Vineyards got its start in the spring of 2005. The vineyard is located on a slight slope which flows down to the BashaKill Wetlands, providing ideal conditions for growing. The moist, warmer air off of the wetlands pushes the codler air off the vineyard, forming a blanket over the vines protecting them from the early frosts. The BashaKill Vineyards have two varieties of vines, Noiret and Cayuga White.

Brimstone Hill is a family-owned and operated vineyard and winery where the visitor can often "talk to the winemaker" so to speak. The vineyard was started in 1969 and the winery was added some 10 years later. Brimstone Hill is especially known for its dry red wines and its sweeter white wines. Further, we are very proud of our sparkling wine, which is made in the method champenoise. All wines are made on premises. Brimstone Hill wines have won several awards, and in the past, they have been served by both President Reagan and Governor Cuomo.

Brotherhood Winery, Washingtonville, New York – Brotherhood Winery can be described as America’s Oldest winery, established in 1839 by French Hugenot Jean Jacques. The Brotherhood Winery has created premium New York varietal wines, making Brotherhood a premier destination in New York State.

Careghino Smith - a small artisanal winery in New Yorks Hudson Valley. Their grapes are sourced from small growers in New York and California. Careghino Smith wines are bottled as single varieties or as bi-coastal blends. The Culinary Institute in Hyde Park pours their Eaten By Bears Bianca and in 2012 will carry their Petit Sirah.

Crooked Lake Winery – Small, family owned winery nestled on the shore of Keuka Lake in Hammondsport, New York

Eagle Crest Vineyards, Hemlock Lake, New York – Eagle Crest Vineyards was originally founded as O-Neh-Da Vineyard in 1872 by Bishop Bernard McQuaid. Made exclusively from Finger Lakes-grown grapes, Eagle Crest Wines are pure grape wines rooted in over 135 years of wine-making experience.

Fulkerson Winery, Dundee, New York – Located in the Finger Lakes region, Fulkerson Winery has been in operation since 1989. Owners Sayre and Nancy Fulkerson have increased production as well as quality over the years. The vineyards at Fulkerson Winery are a mix of well-known grapes and some lesser known varietals such as Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Lemberger, Merlot, Noiret, Dornfelder, Reisling, and Gewurztraminer.

Glenora Wine Cellars is owned by Gene Pierce and Scott Welliver, who struck a friendship at a sail boat race in the early ’70’s. Gene’s and Scott’s varied business experiences and shared values have been a great asset. These entrepreneurs have overseen the creation of the 30 room Inn and the Veraisons Restaurant, which offers guests from around the world the finest accommodations and cuisine in the Finger Lakes.

Glorie Farm Winery was established in 2004, this small family winery is a natural extension to their fruit farm, Glorie Farms. As a boutique-style winery, on average there are about 600 carefully crafted cases of wine produced each year. Glorie Farm Winery enjoys the process of growing grapes, making and tasting wine, and talking with their visitors about the array of unique, estate-grown grape and fruit wines that are offered. This boutique-style winery welcomes visitors into their comfortable tasting room, which offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Hudson Valley.

Hazlitt Vineyards, Hector, New York – Located on the eastern shore of Seneca lake in the Finger Lakes wine region of upstate New York, Hazlitt Vineyards was established in 1984 by Jerry and Elaine Hazlitt. Growing grapes and orchard fruit on the same land since 1852, the winery and its vineyards are managed by sixth generation family members Doug Hazlitt and Leigh Triner.

Hudson-Chatham Winery - The Hudson-Chatham Winery is in Columbia County, NY opened in 2007, the winery has already received numerous awards for its wines, especially its dry reds and dessert wines. Open year-round.

Inspire Moore is a boutique winery producing a few thousand cases of Finger Lakes appellation wines whose focus is on aromatic varietal whites, vintage driven varietal reds, ice wine and blends that are defined by small lot production.

Knapp Winery - Located close to Seneca Falls and easily accessible from the New York State Thru-Way, Knapp Winery has been a popular winery from its inception in 1984. In the year 2000, the winery was sold to current owners Gene Pierce and Scott Welliver. They recognized a gem when they saw it. The Knapp’s had planted some of the first vinifera grapes along the shores of Cayuga Lake. Knapp was the first winery in the Finger Lakes Appellation to plant and vinify the grape variety Cabernet Franc. Recognizing the importance of wine with food, Knapp opened the Vineyard Restaurant in 1992, becoming the first winery restaurant on Cayuga Lake. The winery also had all of the production equipment and resources to continue to produce the premium wine it was known for, including an alembic pot for crafting cordials and aperitifs.

Lime Berry Wine Estate, Keuka Lake, NY – Historic Downtown Hammondsport

Handcrafted wine made from New York grapes. Wine Maker and Owner, Joe Carroll will be offering his Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Rieseling, Cayuga White, Vignoles and Apple Wine!

Palaia Vineyards and Winery, Highland Mills, NY – Small family owned winery with award winning wines and a passion for music. Winemaking in a 200 year old barn; 10 acres of grapes.

Pazdar Winery, Scotchtown, New York – The Pazdar Winery was established in 1995 by David and Tracy Pazdar, with the purpose of producing innovative and highly creative wines for your palate, as well as top quality varietals and spices. Pazdar Winery planted their first grape vines in 2007, and hope to release their first estate grown wine by 2012.

Whitecliff Vineyard – Whitecliff Vineyard is an artisanal, family run winery and 26 acre vineyard created from the ground up by owners and founders Michael Megliore and Yancey Stanforth Migliore. Whitecliff has established a winery thoroughly rooted in the agriculture traditions of the Hudson Valley and produced fine, complex, European style wines.

White Spring Winery – The White Spring Winery is located in Genvea, New York. A farm estate winery in the heart of the Finger Lakes offering an award winning Rieseling, Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio Blend, Dry Red Blen, Happenstance (Semisweet Red), Serendipity (Semisweet White) and Sangria.
