Four arrested for prescription forgery in Liberty

On July 6th 2011 Village of Liberty Detectives with the assistance of the New York State Police made the final of four arrests concluding a nearly two week long investigation into the theft and forgery of prescriptions from a Liberty doctor’s office.

The investigation began on June 24th 2011 when police were alerted by a Liberty pharmacy of two individuals they believed were trying to pass a forged prescription at the pharmacy on Main Street in the Village of Liberty.

Police arrived shortly thereafter and arrested Matthew Husted, 20 of Roscoe, and Daniel Cavaluzzi, 22 also of Roscoe, for attempting to pass the forged prescription to obtain percocet pills.

Investigation revealed that the prescription had been stolen and forged by Daniel’s girlfriend Miranda Zeininger, 23 of Roscoe, who worked at a Liberty doctor’s office as a receptionist.

Liberty Police detectives and State Police investigators discovered that Zeininger had stolen an additional 4 prescription and forged them in an attempt to obtain percocet pills.

Detectives also learned that Daniel’s brother, Fabian Cavaluzzi, 25 of Roscoe, had also participated in passing one of the forged prescriptions. Daniel Cavaluzzi was charged with Criminal Possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a felony and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and making a punishable false written statement, misdemeanors.

Matthew Husted and Fabian Cavaluzzi were both charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree a felony. Miranda Zeininger was charged with 4 Counts of Forgery in the second degree and falsifying business records, felonies and 5 counts of petit larceny, misdemeanors. All individuals were arraigned in Town of Liberty Court to appear at later dates.
