Troopers investigated an accident on Gables Road in the town of Tusten in which a vehicle struck the guiderails and then left the scene.

Witnesses were able to provide a description of the driver and pieces of the vehicle were collected. Shortly after, as a homeowner was video taping on his property he caught a high speed vehicle on tape.

The vehicle was travelling so fast it went airborne and left gouges in the asphalt where it landed. Troopers located the vehicle, a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria, and driver on Tyler Road in the town of Cochecton.

20 yr old Victor J. Chmura of Narrowsburg, NY was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Fail to stop/stop sign and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will appear in the town of Tusten court on May 12, 2011 to answer the charges.
