On Saturday afternoon, November 19, Main Street was filled with cars and people as crowds of art enthusiasts flocked to the opening of the 12th annual Art in Sixes show at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. Over 100 artists are represented in this show, with over 500 pieces of work. The Art in Sixes show, where each piece does not exceed 6 inches in any direction, is another sign that we are entering the holiday time of year. Visit, and perhaps you will find the perfect gift, many for as little as $50, for that difficult person on your list, or just treat yourself to an enjoyable show of the talents of our local community.

Jumping to December, just around the corner, we may be thankful to the Tusten Youth Commission: it has, once again, arranged for a visit from the Santa Express. Prepare yourself for another enjoyable show on Saturday, December 10 at 8:15 p.m. as Santa and Mrs. Claus roll into town on their brightly lit oversized sled and perform with their many friends, including Rudolf and the Snow Queen, during this magical event. The Express will park in front of The Union, allowing enough space for all of us to watch the performance and at the same time witness the excitement of the children in our community. As we are transformed back to our childhood days, we are able to sing Christmas carols and feel the spirit of the season. This event is really not just for children. It is for all of us.

So there is no turning back. We are in the midst of the holiday season, where tradition plays an important role. Part of this tradition includes holiday concerts at our Sullivan West schools, scheduled for December 12, 13 and 20. Take time to hear the children perform.

Remember to shop locally, which allows more time to meet with friends for holiday cheer before we celebrate Christmas with families.
