The brilliant fall colors seem to be the grand finale of the growing season as Mother Nature prepares to rest over the winter. Gardeners work to prepare their gardens for this rest, and we all cross our fingers that winter will be mild. Besides composting all the frost-bitten vegetables and flowers, one is able to save seed for next spring. Not sure how to do this? Adrianne Picciano, The Dirt Diva, will teach “Seed Saving 101” at the Narrowsburg library on Saturday, November 19 at 10 a.m. To attend this free program, presented in collaboration with the Tusten Heritage Community Garden, you will need to register in advance either online or at the library. Here we are in fall, but already seem to be sliding into the holiday season. An opening reception of the 12th annual Art in Sixes will take place at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance on November 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. This is a wonderful exhibit of hundreds of works of small art, no greater than 6 inches in size in any direction. Paintings, photography, sculpture and more are all part of this show, and these works make wonderful gifts, beginnings for new collectors, or ideal pieces for that small blank spot on the wall in your home. Prices are affordable, and the only problem seems to be limiting yourself to just one piece. Get an early start on your holiday shopping and check someone off your list at the Art in Sixes show, which is ongoing until December 23.

This year make a point of shopping locally for your holiday gifts. Gifts can be found in all of our local shops. How about a bird feeder from Narrowsburg Feed and Grain, winter gloves from Tom’s Bait and Tackle, a gift made in America found in By Delaine... and the list goes on and on.
