A helping hand at Yasgur Road Reunion

BETHEL, NY — The Yasgur Road Reunion will welcome Strangers Helping Strangers (SHS), a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to run a food drive to help communities hosting music festivals, at the August 14 to 16 Woodstock Reunion at Yasgur’s Farm on Yasgur Road. The Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless will partner with SHS to distribute food collected at the reunion to those in need in Sullivan County.

Strangers Helping Strangers was formed in 1997 when fans of the band Strangefolk came together to give back to the community that had given them a family and the gift of music. SHS is home to a massive network of volunteers throughout the country who dedicate their time and effort to this cause. It provides organization, support and resources to care for those less fortunate by setting up food drives at concerts and festivals.

The Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless operates the only soup kitchen in Sullivan County, providing breakfast and lunch five days a week to local residents. It also operates a food pantry twice a month, and operates a housing and utility assistance program for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
