MONTICELLO, NY — Ground has been broken at the site of the planned Z Living/Veria Nature Cure & Ayurvedic Wellness Center at the former grounds of Kutsher’s Country Club.

The project is being spearheaded by Indian billionaire Dr. Subhash Chandra, chairman of the Essel Group of Companies. Chandra has invested $18 million thus far as part of a $90-million plan for the first phase to turn the legendary Kutsher’s Country Club in Sullivan County into the 260,000-square-foot Z Living/Veria Nature Cure & Ayurvedic Wellness Center. Groundbreaking took place on the first official International Yoga Day, and yoga will be one of the major daily rituals at the center.

Chandra said, “This Wellness Center will bring peace, harmony, jobs and a boost to the Monticello economy. Our project will create 1,000 construction jobs and 800 permanent jobs. These workers will no doubt benefit the greater community as their families live and grow in the area, and spend their incomes in the area.”

The center will be based upon five ancient sciences: Nature Cure, Ayurveda, yogic sciences, nutrition and acupuncture, and will include treatments such as hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. In addition to a yoga center and fitness center, there will be private and couple’s treatment rooms and a swimming pool with nature garden.
