This lovely old house was the home of Joseph G. Gutheil, who owned the Arlington Hotel on Main Street in Narrowsburg. Gutheil built his home next to the hotel. The house was located directly opposite where the Main Street deck is located. History tells us that Mrs. Gutheil loved the view of the river and so asked her husband to please refrain from building anything there so as not to obstruct the view. Thank you, Mrs. Gutheil! The Arlington is now owned by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, and the Gutheil house was removed to make room for our present post office in 1964.
