MONTICELLO, NY — Tanya Duryea has been appointed director of pupil personnel services for the Monticello Central School District. She will supervise the operation of the district’s student services including special education teachers, teaching assistant and teacher aides, as well as school counselors, psychologists, speech/language, OT/PT, health services and social workers. Duryea has been working in the education field since 1997.

Most recently, Duryea served as chairperson for the committee on special education and the committee on pre-school special education in the Port Jervis City School District since 2010.

Previously she was a special education teacher in the Port Jervis high school and middle school, and began her teaching career at the intermediate level in Minisink Valley Central School District.

“I look forward to getting to know parents, faculty, staff and administration and working together to do what’s best for the children. I believe that when we work as one, greatness and an optimal learning environment will result,” Duryea said.
