HONESDALE, PA — Members of Honesdale’s VFW Post 531, its Ladies Auxiliary, and American Legion Post 889, held a ceremony in Central Park on June 6, to remember the brave men and women of the armed forces and the great sacrifices made in the name of American freedom. VFW Sr. Vice Commander Phil Sheehan said, “We do these ceremonies so we can pay respect to our fallen comrades and also to our military forces of today. We must never forget the great sacrifices they have made and are still doing so for our great country.” All of the local veterans’ organizations hold a ceremony like this on important dates throughout the year—Memorial Day, Veterans Day and others. The public is always invited to attend.
