LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — The Sullivan County Legislature has appointed Susan Jaffe to the SUNY Sullivan Board of Trustees. Jaffe is filling the seat recently vacated by the Honorable Josephine Finn, who was required to step down after her election to the New York State Board of Regents.

Sullivan County Legislative Chair Scott Samuelson, who announced the appointment said, “Susan’s selection to serve on the college’s Board of Trustees was an easy one, based on her demonstrated knowledge of economic development, in which the college plays a key role, as well as her familiarity with county and regional organizations and their leadership.”

Jaffe, of Livingston Manor, is a principal at S.B. Jaffe Consulting, whose focus is on the areas of community, agricultural and business development, non-profit management, business networking, strategic planning, financial resource identification and development for businesses and government agencies throughout the Mid-Hudson region. She previously served as the regional director of Empire State Development, Mid-Hudson region, and is co-owner of Snowdance Farm, a pastured poultry and livestock operation.

Her experience in Sullivan County includes having served as the vice president for the Partnership for Economic Development from July 2008 through December 2009. She also served as director of the Sullivan County Agriculture, Marketing & Economic Development from November 2006 through April 2007, and then as commissioner of the Sullivan County Division of Community and Economic Development from April 2007 through July 2008. Jaffe earned a master’s degree in public administration from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Policy in New York City in 1993. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology and women’s studies from Colgate University in 1987.
