HONESDALE, PA — Join SEEDS on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. at The Cooperage to hear about the Wayne County Food Hub—an effort to stimulate the economy of the local farming community by purchasing food from local farmers and producers. This nascent food hub is already resulting in job-training opportunities and employment for area youth.
The panel of speakers will include Robert Muller, Wayne County Conservation District and Wayne Tomorrow’s Agriculture subcommittee; Cindy Matthews, Wayne County Human Services and SEEDS Board; Andrea Whyte, Wayne County Area Agency on Aging; Tom Eccles, Farmer in the Dale, LLC; Julie Gilbert, Wayne County Employment and Training Office; and Kim Emmet, Community Vocational Services, Inc.
Come early for dinner. The Cooperage Café will open at 6 p.m. Caterers Ben and Derrick will feature local foods available for purchase. The program is free and open to all. Pre-registration is appreciated by contacting SEEDS at 570/245-1256 or e-mailing Jocelyn@seedsgroup.net. Walk-ins will also be welcome.
