Celebrates all things green

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — A series of events is planned at the Western Sullivan Public Library for a celebration of all things green in March and April.

"Cooking Irish" will be on Sunday, March 16 at 11 a.m. in Callicoon. Savor the cuisine of Culinary Institute of America chef Steve Peck from The Callicoon Brewery for cooking Irish dishes.

"Money Doesn't Grow on Trees" will be on Wednesday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Jeffersonville. Owner of Plans & Profits, LLC, Charlene Finerty, will discuss personal cash flow, evaluating needs versus wants, and share tips for individuals and small businesses for tax season.

"Your Carbon Footprint" will be on Friday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Narrowsburg. Carol Roig and Stephen Stuart from the Sullivan Alliance for Sustainable Development will discuss building science and energy efficiency, home energy audits, and climate smart planning for our homes, businesses and towns.

"Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" will be on Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m. in Callicoon. Learn how to save money and the environment by reducing waste and recycling with Sullivan County Recycling Coordinator, Bill Cutler.

"Composting" will be on Saturday, April 26 at 12 noon in Jeffersonville. Composting kitchen and garden scraps rich in nutrients promote soil microbes that aid plant growth. Workshop led by Master Gardeners Nancy Schunk and Denise Frangipane from Cornell Cooperative Extension.
