Auxiliary ball breaks fundraising record

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s 73rd annual Gala Ball on January 18 raised more than $25,000. Co-chairwoman Martha Wilson said the record amount was the result of strong support from the medical and business communities, as well as countless individuals, including the 193 people who attended the dinner-dance at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack.

“On behalf of the auxiliary, I’d like to thank the community for its generosity in making our gala ball the most successful ever,” Wilson said. “It is gratifying to live in a community that cares about the quality of healthcare and supports the auxiliary’s efforts to contribute toward it,” she added.

Among the evening’s highlights was the drawing of the winning raffle ticket for a 39-inch flat-screen TV by state Sen. Lisa Baker. Paul O’Neill of Honesdale was the winner. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Women’s Imaging Center, which provides mammograms, bone density testing and other services.
