Stream & watershed opportunity for teachers

LIBERTY, NY — Teachers from Tri-Valley, Fallsburg, and Liberty school districts are invited to attend a free professional development opportunity on Thursday, March 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gerald J. Skoda Extension Education Center. Sullivan County school teachers in the New York City watershed can receive training on stream and watershed education offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Sullivan County.

Through a three-hour program and the opportunity for future in-class support, CCE educators aim to enhance in-school watershed education in Sullivan County. Teachers completing the training will have a good understanding about watershed science and the impact of land-use practices on water quality, stream processes (erosion and deposition), and the impact of infrastructure and management practices concerning flood risk.

Teachers must pre-register by Monday, March 3. Registration and more information can be obtained by calling 845/292-6180 or emailing Michelle Lipari at mml249@cornell.edu.
