WAYNE COUNTY, PA — Transition Honesdale will host a winter film series in February, March and April, with screenings in Honesdale and Beach Lake. This year’s theme will be food, focusing on how to make a diet of local foods, how to raise a lot of food in a small space, and how to address the staggering issue of hunger in the United States.
The February film offering will be the 2013 documentary “Eating Alabama.” It will be shown at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 20 at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce in Honesdale, and at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26 at the Beach Lake United Methodist Church. Young filmmaker Andrew Beck Grace describes his film this way: “In search of a simpler life, a young couple returns home to Alabama, where they set out to eat the way their grandparents did—locally and seasonally. But as they navigate the agro-industrial gastronomical complex, they soon realize that nearly everything about the food system has changed.”
Light refreshments and fair trade coffees and teas will be available 15 minutes before each film presentation. All screenings are free and open to the public. Visit www.transitionhonesdale.org/newsletter or email lewis.barbara13@gmail.com for more information.
