I’m sitting at home watching the 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles on TV. My older sister is a Beatles freak; she will chase Paul all over the world. You could see her interview about being a life-long Beatles fan running for the entire weekend on Channel 2 TV in New York City.

Yes, and it is snowing again. This has to be the most snow I can remember of any winter in a very long time. It reminds me of when I was a kid and how much I loved snow days.

If you are driving around Lake Huntington and want to know what that elephant is doing on the frozen lake, I will tell you. The Republican Club does a fundraiser; for only $5 you can get three guesses on when the elephant is going for a swim. If you are interested in playing, give Ed Grund a call at 845/932-7363.

The Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC) will be hosting a day of skiing or snowboarding at the Villa Roma on Sunday, February 16. The event coordinator is Sue Rodriguez, and you can contact her at 845/866-0853. There are no sign-up dates prior, just a 15-minute window on the day of the event. Please arrive at the ski hill to sign up with Sue from 12:45 to 1 p.m. This event is free for Cochecton youth. For out-of-town youth and adults, lift tickets cost $8, $8 for ski rentals and $8 for a one-hour lesson. The smallest child’s boot size available is 12.

On Saturday, February 22, join the CYC in Lakeville, PA, for Crystal Cabin Fever, a one-of-a-kind experience where everything—including the 50-foot slide—is carved entirely from ice. You can check out crystalcabinfever.com for more details. This event is free to Cochecton youth. Adult admission costs $15, and out-of-town children may attend for $10. Children ages three and under are admitted free. Sign-ups for Crystal Cabin Fever are February 18 at the old town hall from 6 to 7 p.m. For information call Sue Rodriguez at 845/866-0853.

In case of inclement weather, we will be sending emails and placing notifications on Facebook. Don’t forget to “like” our Facebook page to keep up to date on coming events.

Save the date April 5 at 11:30 a.m. for a penny social at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church; more to follow as the date gets closer.

On Sunday, March 16 Narrowsburg will hold its St. Patrick’s Day parade; line-up is across the street from St. Francis Church and the parade starts at 1 p.m. All local businesses are welcome to put a float in the parade, or march—whichever you would like. The more the merrier, so come out and have a great time.

Happy Birthday to Gregory (Moon) Kent, Brenda and Kevin Essleman, Anna Story, Bob Meyer (The Judge) and anyone else whom I don’t know about.

News from Dolores Manaseri is that she is home from the hospital, but still in Florida.
