MILFORD, PA — Ed Nikles Custom Builder, Inc. recently completed a new picnic area at Lily Pond’s trailhead and forest demonstration area in Delaware State Park. Located on Schocopee Road, the picnic pavilion and restroom facility were built though the partnership of county and state governments.
The pavilion, which can accommodate large groups, was built from Douglas fir posts and beams, has a concrete floor, cedar ceiling and standing-seam metal roof. The precast concrete restroom facility has a waterless composting toilet, an environmentally friendly feature. Both Ed Nikles and his son, Ed Jr. have been certified as green professional builders (www.ednikles.com) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
Management of the area will be taken over by Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. For directions, visit www.discoverpikepa.org.
