I write my column this week with a very heavy heart. Horace “Bud” Buddenhagen passed away on Saturday October 19 in Wayne Woodland in Waymart, PA with his family by his side. His wife Emily told me it’s going to be very hard to live alone after 65 years; who is she going to argue with? I told her to call my husband. The Buddenhagen family will have a memorial for Bud sometime in November; I will keep you informed.

Last week when I got my mail I got my absentee ballot so I can vote on November 5; I will just be arriving back from a very overdue trip to England to see my family. Please make sure you get out and vote. The positions that are open are supervisor (Gary Maas running unopposed), highway superintendent (Kevin Esselman running unopposed), town clerk (Hollye Schulman running unopposed), tax collector (Eileen Hennessy running unopposed), town justice (two openings, Steven Sauer and Craig Fine, both running unopposed). There are two openings for town council; there are four people running for the positions: Edwin Grund, incumbent; Joan Glase; Sean Nearing; and Dr. Paul Salzberg. We live in a great town; please get out and vote at the new town hall. The Lake Huntington Presbyterian ladies aid is having its election bake sale, so bring your wallets.

The Lake Huntington Red Hatters had a great time at Angelina’s on the Hill for their Halloween party. The food was great and it was nice to see all the ladies in their costumes. Mildred Meyer was the best; she came as a Met baseball player, bat and all. Big thanks to Mike and Andrea for hosting the party. The Red Hatters Christmas party will be Sunday, December 1 at Tony’s on the Lake, 4 p.m.

Lake Huntington Fire Co. and The Ladies Auxiliary invites you to their first annual spaghetti dinner on Saturday, November 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. The cost is $10 each, under 10 $7, and includes salad, spaghetti with meat sauce or vegetarian sauce, bread and apple crisp with whipped cream for dessert. Take-outs available.

Ellen Ward would like everyone in Cochecton to know that her husband Pat Ward passed away on Wednesday, October 16; please keep the family in your prayers.

Have a great week and email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
