We were blessed with great weather for the 4th of July and the weekend to follow. I had a fun time riding my husband’s scooter in the Narrowsburg parade. My mother lived on the parade route and she always made us get chairs out on the road early to save the spaces so you could watch the parade. This year a lady came over and asked if she could sit with us. When she was sitting there, she told me she reads my column and knew that that was my mother’s house and just wanted to say she was sorry that my mom passed away. I have amazing people reading my column.

On Friday I had to go up to Franklin, NY for my oldest friend’s mother’s memorial. Katie, my friend of 48 years, lost her mother two weeks after mine. On my way home on Saturday, we took the back roads. Livingston Manor and Roscoe were hopping busy towns, great to see that for all the businesses.

If you have been reading my column for the last few weeks then you know what a big weekend this is going to be for Cochecton. Saturday, July 13 is the Lake Huntington Firemen’s Day and chicken barbeque on Cochecton Day on the Lake. It’s all up at the new fire house on County Route 116. There will be a fire truck, car and tractor parade, plus vendors, music, food and a kids’ corner with free jumping in the bounce house. Sunday, July 14 is the Lake Huntington Fire Company annual pancake breakfast. Come out and support your town.

The Cochecton Youth group would like to thank Barbara and Jim Kayton from The Callicoon Theater for a great time at the movies. We went to see “Despicable Me 2.” The movie was funny and I’m sure the kids did not get half of the jokes. It is kind of hard when you get a joke and the kids want you to explain it to them, and you know if you do their parents are not going to be happy with you.

The Steve Lagoda scholarship was awarded to Scott Herbert and Scott Erdman from the Sullivan West School District. They both will be attending Alfred State in the fall. Also there is a golf tournament on August 25 at the Villa Roma to help raise money for the scholarship fund. You can contact Brian Starr at bstarr@hvc.rr.com if you would like more info.

The Annunziata family of Cochecton is having a family reunion for the month of July. Vince and Sue have nine children from all over; some came from as far as Ohio, Tennessee and Atlanta. What a great way to keep in touch with your family, hope all get home safe.

Have a great week and email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news.
