When I am out and about in the community so many people ask me, “how is your mother doing? I follow her in your column.” She is much better; thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I told you on January 14 she had a new great-granddaughter, Catherine Jane Marie, and on January 29 another great-granddaughter, Brianna Marie. Both are doing well and my mother is very happy. As for her health, she is amazing. I called her the other day and she told me she was going to Empire City with my godmother; I call them Dipsy and Doodle. She did fine and felt great. She has to stop and hold on and catch her breath, but she keeps going.

I can not believe this weather. Last Wednesday I was in Honesdale with a bunch of girls from work and the Honesdale National Bank sign said 60 degrees, and then the next night I had to drive home from the town hall in a blizzard. I do not know what you think of it, but I say Mother Nature is going through some changes. She needs to get herself on some hormone pills; this is crazy. The little groundhog saw his shadow, so there will be six more weeks of winter. I do not mind the snow; it’s the freezing cold and the ice I could do without. I like to shovel the snow. A big “thank you” to Kevin Esselman and the road crew in Cochecton. Because of them I was able to get up my hill in each storm.

St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Narrowsburg had their Katie’s Café free lunch on Saturday, February 2. I made beef stew, and Pastor Phyllis made a seven-cheese macaroni and cheese. Pastor had a sign with what was in her dish: goat cheese, Gouda, creamed corn and other cheeses. Believe it or not I am a very picky eater; you would not think that with the size of me. I talked myself into trying it and it was really good. So I can say I tried goat cheese; cross that off the bucket list.

Save the date, on Sunday, February 24 The Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance is having their 6th annual chili fundraiser, more info to follow next week.
