MONTICELLO, NY — The inaugural concert of the new Nesin Cultural Arts-administered Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra (SCCO) is scheduled for Saturday, September 10 at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Eugene D. Nesin Theatre for the Performing Arts at 22 St. John St. A reception to meet the musicians will be held the same evening from 9 to 11 p.m. at Mr. Willy’s on Route 42. This first concert, “Classics of the Ages,” will also be performed on Sunday, September 11 at 3 p.m. at the Liberty Museum and Arts Center, 46 South St.
The SCCO will include outstanding Sullivan County musicians and musicians from the New York City area, many of whom are freelance artists. These artists play with major orchestras and organizations. The soloist for the first concert is Lydia Hong, Principal Second Violin of the New York City Ballet Orchestra.
Tickets cost $18 for adults and $15 for seniors. Students with ID are admitted free. They can be purchased online at www.nesinculturalarts.org, at the door, or by mail to NCA, PO Box 249, Monticello, NY, 12701.
