MILFORD, PA — The Upper Delaware GLBT Center (UDGLBT) will hold Pride Weekend 2016 on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10. This event to celebrate the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (GLBTQ) community would not be possible without the warmth, acceptance and generosity of allies and supporters in the greater Milford and surrounding areas. Over 45 Rainbow Pride flags will be distributed to local business owners who are showing their support on this special weekend. A list of these businesses will be on posted on www.udglbt.org.

On Saturday there will be a Pride Dance at the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing starting at 8 p.m. with dance music stylings by Patrick Conseil. There is a $10 contribution requested at the door. On Sunday at 12 noon, there will be a free Family Pride Picnic at Camp Akenac in Dingmans Ferry located on Route 739. The sponsors this year are Bon Secours Community Hospital, Chant Realty and Riverside Creamery. Hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and paper goods will be provided. Attendees are requested to bring a side dish or dessert for sharing.

Also on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the environmental non-profit Air Soil Water’s Milford Farmers Market will show its support of Pride Weekend. Sponsors include KellyAnn Soaps who will have “Love & Happiness” special rainbow soap, Hidden Pastures Luxury Fiber Farm of Branchville, NJ will offer a variety of rainbow products, Renegade Winery will have a colorful wine selection with a “Taste the Rainbow” theme, Highland Kitchen will have rainbow cauliflower salad and rainbow sweet treats for sale, Luna Grown will make a donation from jam sales and Wonderland Tea Party will have special rainbow treats.

A new merchant who has joined in the community spirit is LakeBum Apparel. The Screen Printing and Embroidery shop, GEM, created a custom 2016 Pride T-shirt for this event and LakeBum will be selling them all weekend. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the UDGLBT Center. The Milford Farmers Market and Milford Craft Show will also be carrying the Pride shirts.

All UDGLBT events are open to the entire community as the Center is only complete with the support and friendship of allies. Email cary@udglbt.org or call 570/832-4955.
