CALLICOON, NY — “The Big Short,” rated R and nominated for five Academy Awards, will be screened at the Callicoon Theater on Upper Main Street from Friday, February 19 through Tuesday, February 23. Starring Christian Bale, Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt, “The Big Short” relates the true story of Wall Street greed that precipitated the 2008 housing crisis and Great Recession.
“Spotlight,” also rated R, is nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Supporting Actor nominee Mark Ruffalo, a resident of Callicoon. “Spotlight” will be screened Friday, February 26 through Tuesday, March 1, and is the true story of how the Boston Globe newspaper exposed widespread pedophilia among the archdiocese’s priesthood.
