HONESDALE, PA — Historic Honesdale and the Greater Honesdale Partnership (GHP) offer the annual Honesdale for the Holidays event on Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28, sponsored by the Honesdale National Bank.

Many of Honesdale’s stores and businesses will host open houses with seasonal warmth. The Fred Miller Pavilion on Main Street will be alive with holiday music on both days, with DJ Tom Emanski on Friday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The music is sponsored by GHP member RE/MAX Wayne.

Friday will also feature Honesdale’s annual Santa Parade, stepping off at 6 p.m. The parade starts at Main and Fourth streets, proceeds up Main Street, turns right on Tenth Street, and proceeds to Honesdale’s Central Park. Activities in Central Park immediately after the parade, co-sponsored by 95.3 DNH and Classic Hits 105.3, will include the lighting of the star on Irving Cliff, the lighting of the Christmas Tree in the park and holiday music. There will be time for the children to visit with Santa after the festivities.

On Saturday, craft vendors will dot Main Street near the pavilion, and Santa and his buddies will hand out special treats for that good little boy or girl. Victorian-clad strollers will promenade the historic streets while the Honesdale High School Chamber Choir roams Main Street caroling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Greater Honesdale Partnership will also offer a free holiday shopper’s trolley from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving visitors a chance to leave their car parked and offering a historic tour of the downtown area. The trolley is sponsored by Beck, Gogolski, Poska & Co., Dirlam Bros. Lumber Co., and Grimm Construction.

The Stourbridge Model Railroad Club will also host an open house on Saturday in the Grace Episcopal Parish Hall located at 827 Church Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Model Railroad Club has created a large HO-gauge railroad display that depicts the mythical town of Wayne. The Wayne County Historical Society Museum, located at 810 Main St., invites you to join them for their annual open house on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. And the Stourbridge Line rail excursions will be offering a Santa Express ride from Honesdale to Hawley at 1 and 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday (visit www.thestourbridgeline.net or call 570/470-2697.)
