BETHEL, NY — Bethel Theatre Works is holding auditions for its 2015 summer production, “Vaudeville in the Catskills Swings into the Sixties!” on May 26 and 27 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and June 6 and 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. An accompanist will be present only at the May auditions.

“Vaudeville in the Catskills” is a lively theatrical production that celebrates the Borscht Belt by presenting entertainment as it occurred throughout the decades of the Catskills’ rich history. This year’s theme is the 1960s, the end of the Golden Age, when resorts like Grossingers, The Concord and The Nevele, were still thriving and big-name entertainers like Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin were booked throughout the season.

The theatre seeks performers of all types: comedians, singers, dancers, musical and novelty acts. Those who can portray legendary entertainers from the 1960s are a plus, but not mandatory.

Auditions and performances are at the Sullivan County Museum and Cultural Center, 265 Main St., Hurleyville. Performances are slated for August 28, 29 and 30.

Vaudeville in the Catskills is made possible with funds from the 2015 Arts for Sullivan Decentralization Program, administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and is sponsored by the Sullivan County Historical Society.
