BETHEL, NY — This August marks the 45th anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, which kicked off on August 15, 1969. To celebrate the anniversary, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is inviting guests to come “Back To The Field” on Friday, August 15 for a free screening of “Woodstock: The Director’s Cut.” It’s an opportunity to watch the film on the actual site where a half-million young people gathered 45 years ago for the historic festival. The field will open to guests at 7 p.m. and the film is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.

The four-hour director’s cut of the 1970 Oscar-winning documentary about the landmark music festival features some of the greatest rock-n-roll performers of all time. It has been described as bringing audiences as close as they can get to the actual festival. Admission to the event is free, but a $5 per person donation is encouraged to benefit the preservation of the historic Woodstock festival site.

In addition to the film screening, several other Bethel Woods summer programs will commemorate Woodstock’s 45th anniversary. John Fogerty, a founding member of Creedence Clearwater Revival, will perform on August 8, marking his return to the legendary site for the first time since 1969. Additionally, students from the Paul Green Rock Academy, the latest educational venture from School of Rock founder Paul Green, will perform a “Tribute to Woodstock” with a selection of iconic Woodstock songs in The Event Gallery on August 3. This performance is free to the public.
