LIBERTY, NY — The Liberty Museum & Arts Center will show the watercolor paintings of Thomas Nickou in a retrospective art exhibition running now through Saturday, August 16. Nickou’s subject matter ranges from close-up views of flowers, tools and farm buildings to the broad expanse of landscapes from our national parks to the Irish and Greek countryside and the Catskills.
Nickou studied art while an undergraduate at Cornell University and then continued his watercolor studies under the tutelage of a group of watercolor artists including Barbara Nechis, Ron Ransom, Jack Yelle, Skip Lawrence and Zoltan Szabo. Nickou’s paintings of covered bridges are among his best known work and several are on display at the exhibition. His paintings have been in many regional shows and he has won awards at the National Art Show in Springfield, MA. Many of his paintings will be available for sale.
The museum is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12 noon until 4 p.m. and admission is free. For additional information, call 845/292-2394 and leave a message.
