HONESDALE, PA — On Saturday, July 19, The Matt Hoffmann Quintet will be at The Cooperage, located at 1030 Main St. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. The concert is to celebrate the release of the group’s new album, “Communion,” which features original compositions as well as improvised jazz.
Matt Hoffmann is a jazz vibraphonist and drummer from Honesdale. He was first introduced to the vibraphone as a kid, and quickly became a child sensation. Hoffmann continued his studies at Purchase College SUNY, earning a master’s degree in jazz studies. He released his first album, “Daydream,” in 2006.
Hoffmann has made his way across the country playing in jazz and swing ensembles, playing in venues that include The Blue Note, The Jazz Corner and Lincoln Center. “Communion,” his most recent work, was recorded by The Hoffmann Quintet in a live studio setting at Big Twig Studios, located in Roscoe, NY.
Joining Hoffmann on stage at The Cooperage Project will be Dylan Canterbury on trumpet, Jarad Lippi on drums, Mario Pietra on bass and Joe Pietra on piano.
