HONESDALE, PA — Weekend of Chamber Music’s (WCM) summer music festival Crossings brings a preview to The Cooperage on Saturday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. The concert marks WCM’s debut at The Cooperage, and offers music for wind instruments.
The concert features flutist Judith Pearce, oboist Matt Sullivan, clarinetist Pavel Vinnitsky, hornist Adam Schommer and bassoonist Gina Cuffari, who will perform music from the 1700s through this century in a variety of ensemble combinations.
Dubbed “Atlantic Crossing,” the program features folk-inspired music from the old and new worlds. Mixed in among the American and Klezmer tunes are Mozart’s Serenade in C, some of Bartok’s songs and melodies, and Ligeti’s Six Bagatelles. WCM heads to Jeffersonville the next day, Sunday, July 13 at 3 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church lawn, for the official opening of its 21st WCM Summer Festival in the Catskills. The two-week festival presents eight more events and runs through July 26.
The suggested donation for admission on July 12 is $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. For advanced reservations, call 570/253-2020. For more information on the WCM Crossings Summer Festival, call 845/887-5803 or email info@WCMconcerts.org.
