HONESDALE, PA — On Sunday, April 13, The Rowan Lynch Quartet will be at The Cooperage Project to celebrate the release of their first recording, “Strange Carp.” The performance begins at 3 p.m.

Rowan Lynch lives in Honesdale, and has been playing saxophone since he was 10. He is currently in the seventh grade at Wayne Highlands Middle School (WHMS) and is a member of the school’s concert and jazz bands. Lynch first heard a live jazz trio in the spring of 2012 and has been hooked ever since. He has taken saxophone lessons from Phil Betros at Black Bear Conservatory since 2010, and also from Tom Hamilton, and he attended the Summer Jazz Institute at Keystone College during the summer of 2013.

Members of the quartet are Rowan Lynch on alto saxophone, Norman Sullivan on drums, Mark Terwilliger on bass and Jason Merrill on guitar.

The recording, “Strange Carp,” includes four jazz standards and six originals compositions. Lynch is most inspired by Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter.

Donations are appreciated. Light fare will be available for purchase from Willow River Cafe. For more information visit www.thecooperageproject.org or call 570/253-2020.
