Dramatic Workshop announces auditions for a melodrama

HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop will hold auditions for “Stop Thief!” a musically enhanced and mischievously fun, old- fashioned melodrama. Auditions will be held at the Sullivan County Museum on Saturday, April 26 from 12 noon to 4 p.m., melodrama only; Sunday, April 27 from 1 to 4 p.m., melodrama only; Saturday, May 3 from 12 to 4 p.m., melodrama and featured roles; Sunday, May 4 from 1 to 4 p.m., melodrama and featured roles; and Saturday, May 10 from 12 to 4 p.m., melodrama and featured roles.

This production offers a variety of featured roles (singers, dancers and /or comics) for short segments performed between acts. Three females: Agnes, matriarch of family/mother (age range: mother of adult children); Tess Bestheart, sweet and innocent girl next door, love interest to Ned, (age range: 20s+); Aunt Faye Quackenbush, Tess’s aunt (age range: 40s+). Three males: the villain Newt, evil, scheming son of Agnes (age range: late 20s+); Ned, good, responsible son of Agnes, (age range: late 20s+); Clyde Wooden, Town Banker (adult, age range, open).
