NARROWSBURG, NY — The Bodenstein Music Scholarship is offered to seniors at Sullivan West Central School who wish to pursue music education in college or with a master teacher. The scholarship is open to both vocal and instrumental students. One Music Advancement scholarship in the amount of $500 is awarded annually, given a suitable candidate. At the discretion of the jury, a $100 Music Achievement prize may also be awarded.
Candidates are required to attend a juried audition held on Tuesday, May 13 at the Delaware Arts Center, 37 Main St., Narrowsburg. To schedule the audition, call the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance at 845/252-7576.
Auditioning students must prepare and present a New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Level VI or higher solo. Students should bring two copies of their music for members of the jury and one completed copy of the student information form, which, along with application guidelines, can be downloaded from the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance website at artsalliancesite.org, and are also available at the Delaware Arts Center and in the Sullivan West high school guidance office.
The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance offers the Dr. Barry and Jane Bodenstein Music Scholarship in memory of these two admired community leaders from Jeffersonville.
