Liberty Museum to host tribute to Walter Keller

Posted

LIBERTY, NY — The Liberty Museum & Arts Center will host the fifth annual Liberty Poetry Festival on Saturday, October 12, at 2 p.m. at the museum.

The festival was founded and organized annually by Walter Keller, long-time village store owner and the Village of Liberty’s Poet Laureate, who died this past year.

In honor of Keller, volunteers will read a cross-section of his poems interspersed with stories about Keller and reminiscences of his decades-long very public presence in Sullivan County.

Anyone who knew Keller, whether as a student of one of his writing workshops, as a friend, as a political ally or foe, or as customer in his gift shop, the Great Liberty Craft and Trading Company, and who would like to share his or her memories is invited to participate.

Being held for the first time in conjunction with the Liberty Harvest Festival, the Poetry Festival is co-sponsored by Sullivan Performing Arts and the Liberty Museum. Admission is free. Call 845/292-2394.
