GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — “Denning Day: An Afternoon of History” will be held on Sunday, September 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room of the Daniel Pierce Library. The Time and the Valleys Museum will share information from its archives on the history of the Town of Denning in Ulster County.

Town of Denning residents will share oral histories from and information about life along the Upper Neversink and the Upper Rondout. A newly donated collection of unusual items from the Herbert and Esther George estate in Sundown will be shown.

Also on display will be an unusual vintage handcrafted noise-maker that was used as part of the festivities at a “skimelton,” which was a loud party of well-wishers who would show up at the home of a newlywed couple spending their first night together. The Rondout Neversink Stream Program representatives are asking people to bring in early photos of local streams to be scanned and added to their knowledge of streams, and to the museum archives. Call 845/985-2581.

Admission to the museum is free and open to the public. Visit www.timeandthevalleysmuseum.org, or call 845/985-7700.
