MILFORD, PA — On Saturday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m., the Manhattan Symphonie, led by conductor and violinist Gregory Singer, will become the first professional symphony orchestra to ever play at the historic Milford Theatre. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Grey Towers National Historic Site, where the father of the conservation movement, Gifford Pinchot, and his family introduced modern forestry and other sustainable practices to America, the concert is called Nature in Music.

The program will include “The Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi, waltzes by Johann Strauss Jr. such as “Blue Danube” and “Vienna Woods,” and excerpts from Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring.” Antonin Dvorak’s “Silent Woods” will feature a special appearance by cellist Yosif Feigelson, an internationally renowned soloist who lives in Milford. Thanks to the sheer size of the orchestra and the nature of this program, this ensemble will be able to fill the theater with a sound as big as the great outdoors.

Tickets cost $20 at the box office or $15 when purchased in advance on the Kindred Spirits Arts Programs website, kindredspiritsarts.org. The public can also buy tickets at Books and Prints at Pear Alley, 220 Broad St., Milford. Children under 15 are admitted free.
