Honesdale annual Barbershop show set

HONESDALE, PA — The Northeasters Honesdale Barbershop chorus of the Barbershop Harmony Society will present its 35th annual show, titled “Celebrate Harmony” on Saturday, October 12 at 7 p.m. at Honesdale High School.

It is a salute to the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 75th anniversary, and it will feature songs from the barbershop era. Songs included in the program are “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Hello! My Baby,” “Sweet Adeline,” “Light up Your Life With Harmony,” “Alice Blue Gown,” “The Armed Forces Medley.” Four chapter quartets will also perform; namely, Chordially Yours, Basses Loaded, Stourbridge Lion and Northeast Spirit. The 24-man chorus of all ages and from all walks of life is directed by Bob Mains. Sandy Gabrielson will be the narrator.

The guest professional barbershop quartet will be “The faces4Radio.” They are enjoying the first year of their musical journey together. They are the 2012 M-AD Senior Quartet Champion and also the 2013 silver medalist winner of the International Barbershop Harmony Society senior quartet competition. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any chorus member for $10. The chorus is always looking for additional singers. Rehearsal is every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Chapel at 10th and Church Streets in Honesdale. Call 570/685-1554.
