HONESDALE, PA — The Sanctuary of Oils will be hosting a reading with Mermer Blakeslee and Tom Lisenbee on Friday, July 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Blakeslee will be reading from her most recent novel, “When You Live by a River,” a fictional story of a 1931 Catskill Mountains valley community soon to be flooded to create a reservoir for New York City.
Lisenbee will open the evening with a selection of poetry. A member of the Upper Delaware Writers’ Collective, he is the recipient of the 2009 Richard Bausch Short Story Prize, and Honorable Mention, 2009 Mulberry Poets Poetry Prize. Lisenbee retired from his 20-year career as principal trumpet player for the New York City Opera and American Ballet Theatre and turned to writing poetry and fiction in 2001.
