PORT JERVIS, NY — A series of eight music classes for beginners on “How to Play the Fife” begins on Friday, April 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room in the basement of the Port Jervis Free Library. The class will be taught by Patti Gessner, a music instructor who frequently plays the fife with the Broome Street Fife and Drum Corps. The class, open to ages 12 to 80, will combine a combination of classroom instruction and a bit of field marching. Training fifes will be provided for the class. The fee is $16 for the entire course. Class dates are April 5, 12, 19, 26, and May 3, 10, 17 and 24.
