Columns to host WWII exhibit

MILFORD, PA — The Pike County Historical Society’s interns have created a new exhibit that depicts a WWII timeline through the use of archival newspapers and the often hard-hitting headlines the front pages relayed, to open on Saturday, August 11 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. College students Grace D’Agostino and Christopher Walsh have spent a good part of their summer working at The Columns Museum with museum director Lori Strelecki.

The idea for the exhibit is the result of a recent find of the newspapers, in the gold mine of history the third floor closets of the museum contain. “Just when we thought we had sorted through all the boxes stored in various locations in the museum, we came across these papers and just knew we had to display them,” said Strelecki.

D’Agostino and Walsh were eager to put the exhibit together, and they will also incorporate WWII memorabilia, War Bond and Victory Bond Posters, and perhaps even some audio and visual support.

Light refreshments, which will be WWII era-appropriate, will be served. Admission is free; however, donations are always welcome. Call 570/296-8126 for more information.
