Independence Day events

HONESDALE, PA — Honesdale will hold its 2012 Fireworks Celebration on Tuesday, July 3, with a rain date of Friday, July 6. The show will start at approximately 9:15 p.m. Prior to the fireworks, the Wayne County Creative Arts Council will host a celebration in Central park beginning at 3:30 p.m. There will be live music, vendors games and more throughout the afternoon and evening. (See page x for more information).

LAKE WALLENPAUPACK, PA — There will be a fireworks display at Lake Wallenpaupack on Wednesday, July 4, with a rain date of July 5. Bold Gold Media’s Classic Hits 105.3 will broadcast patriotic music before, during, and after the event, from the Wallenpaupack Area High School lot. The display is fired near the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack, next to the Wallenpaupack Area High School, and will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. The bleachers will be open to spectators at approximately 7 p.m. Viewing the fireworks will still be available at the dike and by boat from the lake.

LIBERTY, NY — The Greater Liberty Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the village and town of Liberty will host its 19th annual Summer Celebration on Wednesday, July 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event includes closing off both North and South Main streets to vehicle traffic to accommodate more than 60 food, craft and retail vendors. An antique car show will be located on South Main Street, and entertainment this year will be provided by the Carl Richards Band, with additional acts performed by Josie Lou, the Country Girl; and Tanya Lynn Hall, who just returned from performing in Nashville, among others. A dunking booth has been added to the venue this year along with a duck race, with all proceeds to benefit existing projects sponsored by the Chamber.

MONTICELLO, NY — There will be a Fourth of July parade on Wednesday, July 4, with lineup starting at 11 a.m. and the parade itself stepping off at12 noon. There will be foot marchers, floats and vintage cars. Food vendors will be set up at the parade’s end at the corner of St. John Street and Broadway.

NARROWSBURG, NY — Fireworks will be held in Narrowsburg on Wednesday, July 4, sponsored by the Lava Volunteer Fire Department, starting at dusk. Fireworks can be seen from the Narrowsburg Bridge, Peck’s Marketplace, the former Narrowsburg School and several other places in town. There will be other Independence Day festivities during the day, including a 3 p.m. parade and 4:30 chicken barbeque sponsored by the Narrowsburg Fire Department.

ROSCOE, NY — Roscoe will host an Independence Day Parade and festival on Saturday, July 7. Marchers and floats will join the parade, which starts at 11 a.m. at the Roscoe Central School. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
