NARROWSBURG, NY — “Be Mine Always,” the fourth annual exhibition of photographs and poetry celebrating love, opens on Saturday, January 28, with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Alliance Gallery, 37 Main St.

This year, “Be Mine Always” has a mostly romantic focus, showcasing poetry and photography expressing the various stages of romance, marriage and lasting love. As in other years, the poetry will be transformed and displayed as a “poem object,” a physical rendition of the poem’s central image or images. These “poem objects,” along with the written poem, will be displayed in the gallery, mingled with photographs on the romantic theme of love. This year’s exhibition includes new features including a magnetic poetry wall and a “Kissing Glass” window installation.

Mary Greene of The River Reporter and the Upper Delaware Writers Collective curated the poetry sections, and Alliance Gallery director Rocky Pinciotti curated the photographs. Over the past four years, these two curators have perfected this unique mixed-media cross-platform exhibition.

“I believe the love of this exhibition warms the heart in the cold winter months, and the afterglow brings us right through to Valentines Day,” said Pinciotti.

“All you need is love,” said Greene, “especially when the wind is howling and the snow is blowing. The brightness and fun of ‘Be Mine’ is becoming a mid-winter tradition.”

At this year’s opening reception, singer Sharon Paige will perform torch songs accompanied by pianist Bob Lohr. An array of refreshments will be provided by Natural Contents. Artists featured include Phyllis Bilick, Mike DeAngelis, Daria Dorosh, Elizabeth Ennis, Gino Garlanda, Richard Kreznar, Glenn Lieberman, Sandy Long, Brandi Merolla, Jane Rapp, Ginger Smith, Michael Staats, Bill Strouse and Nancy Wells.

Poets include Tricia Adler, Ellen Bay/John Dzwonar, Norma Bernstock, Bruce Bidwell, Will Conway, Robert Goldmann, Dorothy Hartz, Patricia Kett, Sherry Lockwood, Karen Morris, Marcia Nehemiah, Leonid Poretsky, Sarah Tunkle and Vera B. Williams.

“Be Mine Always” closes on Saturday, February 18. The exhibit, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County, NY, and is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
