LIBERTY, NY —Whoville has sprung off the pages of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and taken form as a model village at Liberty Elementary School (LES).
Dr. Seuss’s holiday classic was recreated by LES Kindergarteners, with each student turned into a “Who.” Even the Grinch can be found hiding out in Mount Crumpit.
Each kindergarten class read the story together, focusing on characters, setting and plot—the three main parts of a story. “The project gave the kids a chance to learn about story structure, while also putting their creative sides to work,” said kindergarten teacher Rachel Countryman. Whoville is on display in the Kindergarten wing of Liberty Elementary School through the holidays.
