MILFORD, PA — The Pike County Historical Society will offer dinner and a movie to be held in its Foundation Room (aka “The Cellar”) on Friday, November 18. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by the movie and a dessert. The working title for the event is “Aunt Marge’s Movie Lounge,” and it will feature movies that the museum’s director, Lori Strelecki, first viewed while growing up with her beloved Aunt Marge.
“Aunt Marge was the first person in Passaic, NJ to own a VCR, I think, back when they first came out. She took much pride in showing me ‘movies with a plot’ as she liked to call them. I was treated to such fine offerings as ‘To Sir With Love,’ ‘Lillies of the Field,’ ‘Mildred Pierce’ and other silver screen gems that I may have not seen were it not for her persistence,” said Strelecki.
The first movie shown in this series will be “Places in the Heart” starring Sally Field and Danny Glover. Strelecki will also read selected passages from her work in progress, which recalls growing up in Passaic with her “conventionally unconventional” family, including “Aunt Marge.”
A donation of $25 is requested. Reservations are required. Call 570/296-8126.
